Very happy to introduce the app I’ve been working on this Summer.
It’s an upgrade of the Orthodox Calendar app, in the sense that it contains all the icons and lives of saints (or feasts descriptions), a total of 3.290 texts and over 2.000 icons. Like the Orthodox Calendar app, this one too does not require Internet connection to work, allowing you to read your daily spiritual nourishment at any place and at any time.
It contains notes about the periods of the liturgical year and the fasting dates, but you are warmly advised to not rely only on those notes, but to rather speak to your priest about fasting details.
The app is fully in Russian, and is currently available for Android and BlackBerry 10 devices, with support for more platforms on the way!
The app uses contents from the renowned Azbyka.ru portal, as well as from the “From Pascha to Pascha” calendar by the St Maximus the Greek fund.
Not so long ago, I got an amazing Z10 from Marmalade (thanks to them once again), and it’s such nice hardware and OS, I’m using it as my main device ever since. One of the things I missed, however, was my SmartWatch, which works only with Android devices.
However, not much was needed for it to be able to work with BlackBerry 10’s Android player, main thing was Bluetooth. Thus, I was really excited when I heard the announcement that the next version of BB10 would include Bluetooth support. And when I found a leaked version of that OS, it only took some repackaging and simple tweaks to get the SmartWatch connected to the phone.
Announcing the Fast Dialer app for BlackBerry 10 devices!
Fast Dialer is a neat little app that makes the usage of your phone super-easy. Instantly find and dial contacts by name, number or company name, with only a few taps (statistics say average of 3 taps to find your desired contact).
The only BlackBerry 10 app that lets you search through your contacts using 2 different languages alphabets at the same time, the first one is Latin-based (and includes all European Latin-based languages by default), and the second can be one of the following:
Other key features:
* Twenty nice skins.
* Convenient large letters for an easier search. (Four different display modes are available)
* Speed dialing.
* Company name is displayed (and searched by).
* Wildcard search.
* Highlighting of starred contacts.
* Sort contacts by last name
* Pauses in the dialed number.
* Landscape mode.
* Quick redial.
* Localized in Russian, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Polish, Czech, German, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Dutch and Spanish!
Glad to announce that through the generosity of some pious Orthodox Christians Orthodox Christians, all versions of the Orthodox Calendar apps (including all languages and all platforms) have been made free! Not only they will remain free, but you can expect some updates as well!
I could also promise (if God allows) expanding the number supported platforms 😉
Mention in your prayers the benefactors: Vladimir, Vladimir, Tatiana, Viachelsav and the reposed Ivan.
Glad to announce the release of the English version of the Orthodox Calendar for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet!
The Orthodox Calendar application for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, as well as my other calendar apps, includes the full calendar of feast and saints. It does not require internet connection, so it will work even if you are on places such as the Holy Mount of Athos, or on Mount Sinai.
The application is solely in English and can display both the old (Julian) and the new (Gregorian) calendar (there is a setting for the Calendar style).
Fasting rules are also displayed, but you are kindly asked not too rely too much on them, they are accurate, but you should consult your priest for the details.
The application enables browsing the calendar and jumping to a specified date, both in the past and in the future.
Uniquely, the application enables jumping to a certain date related to the Paschal cycle of the year, both in the past and in the future!
A link to the Prologue of Ohrid of St Nikolai Velimirovic for each day is also included.
The English version of the Orthodox calendar app for BlackBerry phones has been freshly published. What is unique about this version, apart from the fact it is in English, is that it can be set to follow both the New and the Old calendar.
Glad to introduce the Orthodox Calendar app for the BlackBerry smartphones. Compatible models are most of the phones with OS version 4.6 or above.
The BlackBerry version of the calendar includes the full calendar of saints, which makes it distinguishable, in addition to the fact that it doesn’t require internet connection. On a BlackBerry this may seem irrelevant, but one might find himself without internet connection even on a BlackBerry device, while on roaming or on places such as the Holy Mount of Athos, or the Mount Sinai.
Apart from that, the app includes links to an online calendar, with lifes of the saints, services, icons and daily readings, and a link to the official typikon for the services of the Russian Orthodox Church.
It follows the old (i.e. Julian) calendar and is fully in Russian language.
